Jasbir Singh’s journey is a story of resilience, service, and unwavering determination. Born on August 2, 1988, in Jalandhar, Punjab, India, he was raised in a family deeply rooted in courage and public service—his grandfather served in the Indian Air Force, and his parents worked in government service. Growing up in a modest household, Jasbir developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong commitment to helping others.
Jasbir Singh pursued higher education in commerce, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Commerce, followed by an MBA specializing in Finance and Marketing. During his university years, Jasbir emerged as a natural leader—actively participating in student organizations, serving in leadership roles, and organizing events that brought people together.
Jasbir began his professional career in the insurance sector, quickly rising from Assistant Manager to Senior Branch Manager through dedication and performance. Alongside his career, he remained deeply committed to community service, organizing medical and public welfare camps that provided free diagnosis and medication to those in need.
In 2014, Jasbir immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, as a permanent resident. He built his career across diverse sectors, working as an Account Manager in a family-owned business, contributing to the growth of SkipTheDishes, and serving with Canadian National Railway. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found multiple businesses, guided by his core belief that success is built on consistency, integrity and persistence.
A dedicated community leader, Jasbir has continuously worked to uplift and inspire others—encouraging civic engagement, supporting local initiatives, and advocating for opportunity and inclusion. His passion for public service led him into politics, where he served as Director for South Winnipeg before being appointed Deputy Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party in October 2025.
Jasbir’s commitment to education and community is deeply influenced by his family. His wife, Pavneet Kaur, is a dedicated learning support teacher known for her kindness and compassion. She works tirelessly with children, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential, ensuring every child feels supported, confident, and capable in their learning journey.
His mother, Sukhwant Kaur, brings over 40 years of teaching experience and currently serves with the Winnipeg School Division. An accomplished educator and author of Scioems, her work reflects a powerful belief that every student deserves to be seen, heard, and inspired. Through her innovative teaching and creative approach, she transforms classrooms into spaces of discovery, confidence, and growth—leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.
Jasbir also takes immense pride in his sister, Dr. Avleen Kaur, whose academic achievements reflect the family’s deep commitment to education and excellence. She earned her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Manitoba and completed her postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She currently serves as a professor in Nova Scotia, contributing to advanced research and inspiring the next generation of scholars in mathematics.
Jasbir’s journey in politics has been shaped and inspired by strong role models, especially Willard Reaves. Under his leadership, Jasbir has found guidance, encouragement, and a renewed sense of purpose.
